Students on Newcastle College University Centre's Foundation Degree in Criminology, Policing and Criminal Law, are set to benefit from a new partnership that will guarantee them a job interview in the sector.
The University Centre has partnered with Sodexo, one of the UK’s largest private security contractors, to offer interviews to all students who successfully complete the course.
All students who complete the degree, and pass a final internal assessment, will go straight to the final stages of the interview process for a job as a Prison Officer with Sodexo.
Aaron Dippie, Head of HE Uniformed Public Services at Newcastle College University Centre, explained how the partnership came about: “Last year, Simon Foster from Sodexo came to the college to talk to students about careers in the prison service. While he was here, we started talking about the possibility of a partnership. He went away and discussed our ideas with senior leaders and here we are now with a brand-new partnership which will give our students a way into their chosen profession.
“This is an incredible opportunity for our learners, and one that I’m confident they won’t be able to get anywhere else.”
Newcastle College University Centre is dedicated to preparing students for successful careers, ensuring students gain the skills and experience that employers really need. Its partnership with Sodexo is just one example of the focus it places on building strong connections with industry to offer students pathways to meaningful careers.
