Civil Engineering (Design, Surveying, Planning for Construction) - Level 3

You will ordinarily require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including English and maths.

You may also be required to participate in an assessment to ensure suitability ahead of enrolment.

On successful completion of this course you will achieve a Pearson Level 3 T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction – Civil Engineering.

Work experience is an important part of your T Level. You will undertake a substantial work placement with an employer for a minimum of 45 days during your course to help you prepare for your next steps. You will also undertake an employer-set project as part of the course.

English, maths and digital skills are vital to all roles in the rail and civil industry, and these are embedded throughout the course to help you prepare for working in the industry. Key skills will include measuring with precision, using rules and formulae, interpreting and representing with mathematical diagrams, coding and programming and conveying technical information to different audiences.

On completion of this course, you can progress into industry through an apprenticeship or an entry level role. Alternatively, you can progress into higher education and will be guaranteed a place on a relevant degree at Newcastle College University Centre.
