Protective Services - Level 1

• 1GCSE at grade 3 or above including GCSE grade 3 in English or maths

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Level 1 NCFE Diploma in Occupational Studies for the Workplace

You will attend guest lectures from Northumbria Police, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue and Newcastle Falcons Community Foundation.

NE Youth offers workshops to help students understand the dangers of drugs and alcohol and how officers can raise awareness through social action projects.

Last year, students visited the Rail Academy to observe a mock rail crash scenario.

English and maths is taught alongside this course, to help students enhance their skills if they were not able to achieve a GCSE grade 4 or above previously. 

The course will help you build on your skills in a practical setting. You will learn how to use orientation and time in mock rescue scenarios, and improve your written and verbal skills in mock courtroom depositions.

After completing this course successfully, you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 in Sport and Protective Services.

You may also be able to apply for a Level 2 Community Activator apprenticeship.
